It is a block of characters joins to a document. It assures the author’s identity and that the data has not been manipulated after it has been written. This impeding its change. Why use digital signature?
Because it guarantees that the person who sent the message is really the one who sent it. What applications does digital signature has?
To sign documents, because it has the same validity as a hand-writing signature (Spanish law), to identify a person (National Identity Card – Electronic ID); to sign judicial procedures and control of presence (e-cards of the Administration of Justice at Cataluña), among others. |
