Access control and Time&Attendance system with smart card

Solution realized at Zaragoza, Huesca and Teruel Universities, that is made of 140 stand-alone terminals with smart card contact: off-line module Kimaldi Kreta and smart card reader Kimaldi KMD6000 ( chip reading TIBC and WG10 )

Terminal Kimaldi Kreta is an stand-alone device, so all the events are stored in the non volatile memory and they can be downloaded to a PC. Its storage capacity is 1,000 authorized users, 4,500 events and 3,000 exceptions. For this applications its capacity has been increased to 5,000 users.

It has different types of interface ( RS-232, TCP/IP or CAN ) and the configuration is from the host or PC. The terminal is supplied with the drivers, so the programmer can develop the software for access control or time&attendance with total freedom.

This application is used for students access control and university’s staff time&attendance. It allows the access to different and restricted areas ( laboratories, offices, conference room, libraries… )

Smart card reader KMD6000 is compatible with smart cards and bank smart card types such as Euro6000, Visa cash and so. It’s possible to customize the firmware to read the information required of the chip depending on the application or the bank entity.

That’s why it’s used for the reading of visa cash cards and E-Purse services. The students used for the access to the car-park and make some discount.

All the readers are connected by interface TCP/IP and centralized at the Computing Center ( Zaragoza ) thorough the University’s intranet
