More and more cities are promoting its cultural and spare time offer to attract more visitors to its museums, cultural centres, monuments, historical churches, etc.
When a monument receives many visitors its staff in charge realized it’s necessary to count its visitors, so this allows generating statistics and comparisons between different periods of the year in order to analyze deeply the data and maximize efforts about visitors, besides of adapting to legal rules.
This capacity control and access control in a touristic monument has been developed by one of our distributors, in order to count the number of people who gain access to the enclosure, and so to have control on the capacity, make statistics of fluency and comparisons.
COUNTING OF PEOPLE AND GROUPS WHO GAIN ACCES TO THE MONUMENT
This monument needs a system to count the number of people entering into the enclosure, and besides needs also to deduct all people leaving the monument, in order to have a control of the visitors’ number about the maximum capacity percentage.
For that, every ticket point of sale has associated an access gate. The bought entrances are registered by the system and then people can pass through the access gate to the enclosure.
Inside each control access gate there’s installed an access control board Kbio2 online, which has a micro connected to the digital input. Every time the gate turns the access control board receives an impulse and starts counting people. So, at the end of the day the access control gate has spun as many times as people has access to the monument, allowing to have a parallel control about the ticket selling, so for each ticket sold the access control gate has turned once.
At the same time, for each person leaving the enclosure the system deducts the number of people, so always has a reliable balance of the number of people inside the monument.
All entrance/exit movements, capacity and occupation are monitored by the person in charge of security system, so when they’re coming close to the capacity limit they can close ticket point of sale and access control gates, reducing tickets selling and excessive access of visitors. The rest of points of sale and access control boards keep working, so each access control board has an independent working from the others.
Security and reliability in application working
Due to the application is developed for an historical monument which receives a huge fluent of people, security and reliability are one of the key factor of this solution. For that, our distributor makes the installation of the access control board Kbio2 online inside the access gates independently one from each other, so if there’s some problem and one of the access gates don’t work, the rest keep working normally and counting visitors.
When the working day is over all ticket point of sale and all access control gates are disconnected. However, the exit control gates keep working and deducting visitors. So, the capacity number at the end of the day must be 0.
This monument has at least 8.000 visitors a day, an average of 12.000 visitors and maximums of 24.000 for special events. So it’s an application that never stops working, keeping a reliable and safety connection for the access control and capacity control to the enclosure.
