Kimaldi Kapri is an online terminal that allows RFID (cards, key fobs, wristbands and tags) and mobile phone identification. It is designed for Access Control, T&A Control and Production Control.

Mifare/Desfire EV1 Reader (with BLE option)

User identification is done through the RFID Mifare/Desfire EV1Card Reader. The Bluetooth (BLE) option allows users to do mobile phone identification through highly secure virtual credentials.

Then the 125kHz RFID Reader option allows low frequency contactless cards reading.

2.4” IPS Graphic Display and Touch Keyboard

Kapri has got a 2.4” IPS graphic display with excellent visibility from all angles. It also has a touch keypad consisting of 4 keys and a beeper.

4 Digital Inputs and 3 Relays

You can use the 4 digital inputs Kapri has to monitor the status of door sensors, limit switch sensors, etc. The unit is equipped with an Anti-Tamper sensor as well.

It also includes 3 relays to activate electric locks, turnstiles, barriers, alarms or other devices.

Ethernet Communication and Wifi adapter

Kapri connects via the Ethernet port and exchanges JSON objects to communicate with the App. Hence, it is easy to integrate with a wider variety of software Apps, programming languages and operating systems.
You can buy the adapter to have a Wi-Fi connection.

Web Communication Protocols*

Kapri offers 4 possible communication protocols:

  • JSON-TCP/IP
  • KTP
  • HTTP
  • CLOUD

Along with WebServer service to facilitate the equipment configuration.

*If you need more information, please check the Communication Protocols tab.

Integration Module

An Integration module version of Kimaldi Kapri is available for integration in turnstiles, barriers and doors.

Access Control, Readers for industrial applications

Kapri is connected via the Ethernet port and communication with the app is always done through JSON objects exchange. The equipment offers the following communication protocols:

JSON-TCP/IP

The terminal provides a TCP/IP communication port to send and receive JSON objects. This port can work as Server or Client depending on how it is configured.

This option is the most suitable for those apps developed in those languages which will not allow the use of web protocols, but can handle standard TCP/IP sockets.

KTP

It is a Kimaldi proprietary protocol that has a KTP network driver and performs the following functions:

– Automatically locates LAN terminals.
– Provides an API interface to the software
– Provides a SocketIO channel for event management.
– Encrypts communications with AES256.

This is the best option for intranet applications where they manage several devices whose IP address is unknown. The application interacts exclusively with the KTP network diver/controller. In addition, it allows grouping terminals on the same LAN to be controlled by different applications.

HTTP

The terminal provides an API Server interface that supports POST and GET commands. There is an option for the terminal to send events via SocketIO to avoid polling the application. No driver installation is required. The application needs the IP of the terminal.

This option is the most suitable for intranet web applications, as in these environments applications can freely access devices.

CLOUD

The terminal always initiates communications. When an event occurs, such as a card being read, it sends a POST command to the application/cloud API server. In response, the application sends a batch of commands to be executed by the terminal, such as displaying messages on the screen and activating relays to allow access.

The Cloud protocol is characterised by:

– Kapri initiates any communication.
– Communications are secure when the cloud uses the https protocol.
– No driver installation is required.
– IP is not necessary for the App.

This option is the most suitable for extranet web applications. In these environments and for security reasons the cloud application is not usually allowed to initiate communications with the devices. The terminals are the only ones that can do so.

WebServer

It has a built in, web based management tool that can be used to configure the device. Alternatively it can be configured by commands through the available communication protocols.
