According to the latest report from Omdia, a global market research company, Suprema has been named as the leader in global market share, excluding China, in the field of biometric readers.
Omdia reported that in its 2021 analysis, Suprema recorded a global market share of around 13% in the field of access control devices using biometric technology: facial recognition and fingerprint recognition, beating many security companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The report also noted that more than 15 million mobile credentials were downloaded in 2020 and highlighted that contactless access control measures have grown since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a March 2021 survey conducted by security and IoT specialist Asmag.com, Suprema was also selected as the number one brand in both the access control software and mobile access card solutions sectors.
In particular, mobile access card solutions that were developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic have multiplied due to the spread of decentralised identification and mobile ID cards, showing several possibilities for innovating new authentication methods.
