Kimaldi Kapri 2 – Access Control by RFID & QR Code

Real-time online terminal for access control and production control using RFID (cards, wristbands or key fobs). Very fast QR code reading, improved user experience.

It has an Ethernet connection and offers multiple communication protocols, including Cloud protocol, which allows direct connectivity to the cloud without the need to open ports or install additional software on the LAN.

  • Mifare/Desfire reader (ISO-14443-3, ISO-14443-4)
  • QR code reader
  • 2.4″ IPS graphic display and touch keyboard
  • 3 relays and 4 digital inputs
  • Ethernet connection and Wi-Fi option
  • PoE
  • Web programming
  • CLOUD protocol: direct connectivity to the cloud
  • Other protocols for working within the LAN
  • Device configuration via WebServer
  • Module for integration

Kimaldi Kapri is an online terminal that allows users to be identified by RFID (cards, key fobs, wristbands and tags) and QR code. Designed for access control and production control solutions.

Mifare/Desfire reader

Users are identified via the Kimaldi LEXA RFID reader (which reads the card’s UID and memory sectors).

Terminal with QR code reader

Kapri is a terminal that reads QR codes and barcodes. It sends the information to the application responsible for interpreting the QR code data.

Applications

We have designed Kapri for solutions in:

  • Access control: sports centres, gyms, paddle tennis courts, companies, restricted areas, trade fairs and conferences.
  • Production control: factories.

2.4″ IPS graphic display and touch keyboard

Kapri terminal has a 2.4″ IPS graphic display with excellent visibility from all angles. It has a 4-key capacitive keyboard and a beeper.

3 relays and 4 digital inputs

Kapri terminal includes 3 relays that can be used to activate electric locks, turnstiles, barriers, alarms or other types of devices.

The terminal’s 4 digital inputs can be used to monitor the status of door sensors, limit switches, etc. The device has an anti-tamper sensor that detects any manipulation of the terminal.

Ethernet and Wi-Fi connection

The device connects via its Ethernet port or Wifi and communication with the application is always carried out through the exchange of JSON objects. The device is easy to integrate regardless of the programming language or operating system.

CLOUD protocol: direct connectivity with the cloud

This option is most suitable for extranet web applications, as in these environments, for security reasons, the cloud application is not usually allowed to initiate communications with devices; only terminals can do so. Kapri initiates communications and when an event occurs, such as reading a card, it sends a POST command to the cloud application/API server. In response, the application sends a set of commands to be executed by the terminal, such as displaying messages on the screen and activating relays to allow access.

The Cloud protocol is characterised by:

– Kapri terminal initiates all communications.
– Communications are secure when the cloud uses the https protocol.
– No drivers, .DLLs or services need to be installed.
– The application does not need to know the terminal’s IP address.
– Easy installation. No local installation required.

Other protocols for working within the LAN
Kapri terminal offers the following communication protocols:

  • JSON-TCP/IP
  • KTP
  • HTTP
