Access control and locker control using RFID technology in healthcare facilities

A Kimaldi distributor has developed an access control application using RFID technology in a healthcare clinic.[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The RFID system integrated throughout the clinic is based on the implementation of RFID access control terminals and electronic locks with RFID card readers at the staff lockers.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The application allows a great advantage for the employees of the health centre, as they only need to have a single personalised RFID card to have access to the centre and to the different rooms. This same card can also be used to open the digital lock installed in the user’s locker. By not using keys or multiple access cards, the worker avoids the loss of these elements.

The easy-to-use solution enables the worker to better manage access throughout the building and improve efficiency.

All the card readers installed in the different areas of the centre, as well as the electronic locks, have been configured so that they can read the same worker’s card and perform all the necessary functions of access control, clocking-in control and locker opening.

It is a scalable system as the health centre can easily expand its network of readers to other doors where they do not have an access control terminal at the moment.

On the other hand, the use of the badge can also be replaced by the use of RFID silicone wristbands. In this way, the user can pass the access control by bringing the wristband close to the reader, even if his hands are full.

For the centre manager, it saves on the whole staff identification process as only one RFID card per worker needs to be configured and it also facilitates the traceability of all the people in the centre.
