On October 16 and 17 of 2019, Kimaldi Rus attended the VBA Forum, an exhibition focused on providing technological solutions for the Russian banking sector.
At the booth the team of Kimaldi Rus had presented Hitachi and Evolis, two brands that have products created specifically for the banking sector, for example vein readers and card printers for bank card personalization and instant issuance.
Many Russian banks and government institutions have shown interest in the solutions that we had presented.
Why should banks choose vascular biometrics? The strength of vascular biometrics is that the pattern is hidden and unalterable. The recognition of people through the veins of their hands is impossible to replicate since the distribution of the veins is unique for each person, even in twins, which allows to identify a person with absolute certainty.
The pattern of the veins does not change throughout our life and is not affected by external conditions such as cuts, dehydration of the skin or other changes associated with age or physical activity.
Thus, one of the star products that we exposed was the Hitachi H1 vein reader, a biometric device that reads fingerveins with infrared technology.
We also presented Hitachi’s latest release, the Hand Gesture Technology. It is a secure, reliable and non-invasive biometric solution that provides fast and accurate authentication to log in to Windows. One of the advantages is that it does not require additional hardware since it is based on the standard camera of the device itself.
Starting in 2020, Hitachi will launch the SDK for the integration of Hand Gesture Technology in other innovative authentication solutions.
We also showcased the Evolis Privelio card printer, which offers an instant bank card issuance solution that solves one of the challenges of Russian banking: the logistics of the newly issued bank cards.
The surface of the Russian territory is very extensive and so for the clients in the most remote regions it takes around 20 days to receive their new bank card. With these printers the bank can print the users’ cards at the moment, thus saving on shipments and making sure to deliver the card immediately to the client.
We made demonstrations with Privelio and they could see how a credit and debit card is customized instantly from pre-printed or white cards. The specialty of this model is the application of the embossing technique and the patented Kineclipse® system that masks personal data on the print ribbon.
This exhibition gave us the opportunity to meet important companies in the financial sector and major banks in the country. We managed to surprise integrators and users with the Hitachi solution, positioning ourselves as the vanguard of the biometric solutions sector.
